Le Manoir de Beauregard
Overview
The Manoir de Beauregard sits in beautiful 40 acre grounds in the Dordogne region of the Perigord & between the historical towns of Bergerac & Perigueux.
Its origins date back to the 12th century though the manoir as it exists today, was rebuilt around 1700.
There still stands however the 12th dovecote, also used as a watchtower until 15th century after which it was partially destroyed during the hundred years war between the French & the English in Aquitaine.
Lovingly restored over the last two years, retaining its authenticity & distinctive charm, this beautiful home, its ancient walls, lime washed beams & south facing terraces, is a haven of peace & well being.
An idyllic setting with breathtaking views over hills & pastures for a memorable stay
Each bedroom & bathroom is individually decorated to a high standard with modern design features but retaining authenticity & charm. The mattresses & bed linen are of quality. Hairdryers & toweling bathrobes are provided. Fresh flowers in all bedrooms.
The Manoir proposes dinner, with prior reservation, every Friday evening. Drinks or cocktails will be served on the terrace or in the dining room, followed by a four course meal using homemade, home grown or local produce , Bio or organic whenever possible.
Tea will be served every day at 4h30 in English fine china and silver with homemade scones or cakes straight from the oven.
Breakfast
Served on the terrace in the warmer months under the shade of the old lime tree or in the Manor dining room in cooler weather. Home made jams are served with wholegrain bread & croissants, fresh orange or grapefruit juice, cereals , yogurts & fresh fruit. Tea , coffee.
The large, heated swimming pool with views over the valley & hills beyond, is surrounded by roses, scented lavender & olive trees. An ideal place to watch the magnificent sunsets.
Chaises longue on the terraces, rattan sofas & chairs under the Gazebo and pool towels are at your disposition.
There is also a small fridge in the summer kitchen for cold drinks & a heated poolside shower.
Petanque (Boules) - Table tennis in the barn - Badminton on the lawn - Country walks along the trails & paths on the property.
The village of Clermont de Beauregard is 10 minutes away on foot. It existed before the 12th century & because of its fortifications & dominating hilltop position, was an important defense point for the English who ruled Aquitaine at that time.
The medieval town of Sarlat & the Lascaux caves where 17 000 year old cave paintings were discovered, are an hour away. Within 45 minutes you can visit the Bastide villages of Beaumont, Issigeac, Monpazier & The Chateaux, Beynac, Castelnaud, & Monbazillac & many more wonderful sites of interest.

Guest Reviews

SUGGESTIONS FOR REVIEWERS
Describe the key elements of the accommodations : decor, hospitality, value, housekeeping, setting, and/or meals. What were the highlights of your stay? A comfortable bed and elegant decor? The convenient location? The delicious breakfasts and afternoon snacks? The hospitality of the innkeepers? Extra amenities and/or advice for business or vacation travel? If in the area again, would you return? Recommend to friends?
Be both honest and fair : We feature various types of accommodation - some more luxurious than others ... Criteria of charm vary from person to person
We offer a wide selection of quality guesthouses for all tastes and budgets
It is not fair to compare a guesthouse that charges €75 a night with a nearby property that charges double or triple that rate.
Things can go wrong in the best of guesthouses, and the difference between an average place and a great one is how the innkeepers address the problem when something unexpected occurs.
Avoid hyperbole : Reviews that include only effusive praise or complete condemnation are rarely helpful or even credible.
Innkeeper responses : There are at least two sides to every story (often three!). The reviews posted on the Charming Guest Rooms website are taken seriously by innkeepers.
We reserve the right for innkeepers to respond to any review.
