Evidence Maison d'Hôtes
Overview
EVIDENCE, Bed and Breakfast in Mercurey in the heart of the vineyard in Burgundy
In the south of Burgundy and in the heart of the vineyards of the Côte Chalonnaise, the charming and secluded village of Mercurey welcomes you.
Leaving town, a small road takes you across the vineyards to the nearby colorful hamlet of Touches where Evidence Maison d’Hôtes awaits you, next to a beautiful XIII century Roman church.
Our proposal is to offer you a relaxing stay, far from everyday stress and worries, allowing you to enjoy a peaceful life and discover this magnificent region.
Our three rooms are located in an XIX century building recently renewed combining the charming ancient furniture, the subtleties of a refined decoration and modern comfort, to make it an ideal place for rest and relax.
On changing seasons you will be able to enjoy the fresh air of the house or warming in front of the Swedish stove after a long walk in the woods or in the vineyard.
The park, surrounded by old stone walls, is an invitation for strolling.
On sunny days you will enjoy the shade of the tall and ancient trees and you can take a dip in the swimming pool.
Breakfast is served in the dinning-room or on the terrace facing the garden.
The Côte Chalonnaise is one of the most beautiful wine growing regions of Burgundy running from the Côte de Beaune in the north to the hills of Maconnais in the south.
Mercurey is the largest appellation of the Côte Chalonnaise with more than 620 hectares of vineyards of which 185 are Premiers Crus. The wine growers of the area will be very happy to receive you and explain the virtues and subtleties of their wines.
Departing from Mercurey, the Great Wines of Burgundy Road, from Santenay to Saint Gengoux-le-National, beautiful throughout the whole year, will allow you to explore all the different appellations: Santenay, Bouzeron, Rully, Mercurey, Givry, Montagny…
Further to the north, the Grands Crus tourist road, from Dijon to Santenay, goes through the famous villages of the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune : Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny, Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Aloxe-Corton, Beaune, Pommard, Meursault, Montrachet, Saint-Aubin, Santenay…
Different trekking circuits departing from Mercurey will let you explore the town and its vineyards. Other footpaths invite you to discover the village surroundings.
Following an old railway track or the path of the Central Channel the Voie Verte tempts you to walk along the road or ride a bike or rollers to discover small villages of the area and their architectural wealth (castles, abbeys, fountains…)
Mercurey’s placement is ideal for touring the towns of Chalon-sur-Saône (St. Vincent’s Cathedral, bords of Saône), Beaune (its refuges and ramparts), Chagny, Cluny, (its Abbey)…

Guest Reviews

SUGGESTIONS FOR REVIEWERS
Describe the key elements of the accommodations : decor, hospitality, value, housekeeping, setting, and/or meals. What were the highlights of your stay? A comfortable bed and elegant decor? The convenient location? The delicious breakfasts and afternoon snacks? The hospitality of the innkeepers? Extra amenities and/or advice for business or vacation travel? If in the area again, would you return? Recommend to friends?
Be both honest and fair : We feature various types of accommodation - some more luxurious than others ... Criteria of charm vary from person to person
We offer a wide selection of quality guesthouses for all tastes and budgets
It is not fair to compare a guesthouse that charges €75 a night with a nearby property that charges double or triple that rate.
Things can go wrong in the best of guesthouses, and the difference between an average place and a great one is how the innkeepers address the problem when something unexpected occurs.
Avoid hyperbole : Reviews that include only effusive praise or complete condemnation are rarely helpful or even credible.
Innkeeper responses : There are at least two sides to every story (often three!). The reviews posted on the Charming Guest Rooms website are taken seriously by innkeepers.
We reserve the right for innkeepers to respond to any review.
