La Source offers guests “much more than a room”.
They can enjoy privileged living and an enriched French lifestyle experience, relaxing in a grande maison de village in a very special part of medieval France that is steeped in history and charm.
Arrive with some bread and cheese or something more exotic. Finish your day of travelling relaxing at home at La Source. Your hosts’ aim is to make sure longer-stay guests never have to say “ not another restaurant meal”.
Guests can take a basket from the kitchen and visit a farmers market or food store and come home with a picnic or a selection from the array of prepared foods that are available. All the necessary utensils and condiments, a blow torch for your creme brûlée or a shucking tool for your oysters will be made available by your hosts to enhance your French lifestyle experience.
Our guests will stay in an exceptional example of “les Plus Beaux Villages de France” that has been chosen by the directors of many films, like “Chocolat” and more recently the romantic “303” to capture the magic of medieval France on screen.
They will enjoy fully serviced, spacious accommodation in an 18th C conservation quality stone house built in the Directoire Style, that has been restored and gentrified in sympathy with its period of origin.
A range of carefully selected wines and other beverages are available for guests to purchase on the basis of an honour system. They will find a complimentry tea and coffee station in the dining room for their enjoyment.
Your hosts Jannie and Benny will provide a delicious breakfast.
The property consists of La Principal Maison, La Petite Maison, on site parking and 1.5 hectares of forest and gardens.
The main house has three stories plus an attic.
The lower ground floor contains the office together with the hosts’ living and sleeping quarters.
On the ground floor, which opens through french doors onto the terrace, guests will find the traditional french oak pannelled living room which the owners believe is an “hors d’ouvre” from a 20thC renovation of the Chateau of Beynac.
On this level they will also find the dining room, the kitchen, a powder room and a utility room which contains the laundry and the supply of beverages which are available to the guests. There are three working fireplaces on this level.
