Château de Châtillon-en-Bazois
Overview
The château de Châtillon-en-Bazois, historical and familial home, is a hidden estate in Burgundy, surrounded by the Nivernais Canal and the Aron River, in a preserved and undulating countryside.
At two and a half hours from Paris only, among the beauty of this soft and wild landscape, one can still experience a sense of confidentiality and conviviality that characterizes the authentic French ‘Art de Vivre’.
Like a jewel in its crown, the castle, listed as a historical monument, is surrounded by parks, gardens, water mirrors and a private canal, all labeled French Remarkable Gardens.
Ideally situated at the edge of the Morvan, it is delimited by Vezelay, listed World Heritage by UNESCO, and Beaune and its infamous wines.
Nothing has been made on a commercial purpose. The château is an authentic family home where one lives in complete intimacy surrounded by period style reflecting the XVIIth and XVIIIth centuries French ‘Art de Vivre’.
Heated swimming-pool, Turkish bath, pool tables, movie theatre, terraces, pub, park and gardens are at your disposal to live privileged and convivial moments.
Tables d'hôtes: at the pub, on the terraces, in the venetian dining-room, in the XVth century kitchen or in the hunting dining-room.
Tasting of Burgundy grands crus wines or Havana cigars.
Parking possibility to land helicopters on the premises.

SUGGESTIONS FOR REVIEWERS
Describe the key elements of the accommodations : decor, hospitality, value, housekeeping, setting, and/or meals. What were the highlights of your stay? A comfortable bed and elegant decor? The convenient location? The delicious breakfasts and afternoon snacks? The hospitality of the innkeepers? Extra amenities and/or advice for business or vacation travel? If in the area again, would you return? Recommend to friends?
Be both honest and fair : We feature various types of accommodation - some more luxurious than others ... Criteria of charm vary from person to person
We offer a wide selection of quality guesthouses for all tastes and budgets
It is not fair to compare a guesthouse that charges €75 a night with a nearby property that charges double or triple that rate.
Things can go wrong in the best of guesthouses, and the difference between an average place and a great one is how the innkeepers address the problem when something unexpected occurs.
Avoid hyperbole : Reviews that include only effusive praise or complete condemnation are rarely helpful or even credible.
Innkeeper responses : There are at least two sides to every story (often three!). The reviews posted on the Charming Guest Rooms website are taken seriously by innkeepers.
We reserve the right for innkeepers to respond to any review.
