Overview
We are delighted to welcome you to our 16th century manor house which has belonged to our family since 1886. It enjoys a superb location nestled away from the road at the heart of 80 hectares of woods, 3km from the village of Truyes. The Manoir de Chaix is the ideal place to stay to discover the châteaux of the Loire valley, in particular Chenonceau, Amboise, Loches, Villandry and Azay-le-Rideau. Our host Christian, former sommelier at the Alain Ducasse restaurant at the Plaza Athénée in Paris, will be happy to arrange vineyard visits and tasting sessions for you to discover the wines of the Touraine (Vouvray, Montlouis, Chinon and Bourgueil). The Manoir has 5 rooms for 1 – 4 people, each room fitted with a bathroom, TV and a double or single bed. In the evening, Christian will prepare you an evening meal accompanied by fruits and vegetables from the garden. In the summer, you can make the most of the outdoor swimming pool, or set off from the Manoir for a variety of walks or cycle rides. The Manoir is located 20km to the south-east of Tours, 1 hour from Paris by TGV and is close to the A10 (exit 23) and A85 (exits 10 or 11) motorways.

5 2La vie de château au Manoir de Chaix...dans le prolongement de nos visites à Chenonceaux, Amboises, le Clos Lucé (dernière demeure de Leonard de Vinci), Azay-le-Rideau. L'accueil fut chaleureux par les "maitres des lieux". La Touraine était à l'honneur au diner avec toutes ses spécialités : Vouvray, Chinon, rillons et un plateau de fromages...un délice. Une excellente surprise que nous recommandons à tous !

Nous avons passé un week-end inoubliable au manoir de Chaix. Tout, de l'accueil à la qualité de la cuisine en passant par le confort des chambres et l'emplacement exceptionnel du lieu, invite à la sérénité. Bref, la base idéale pour visiter les châteaux de la Loire.

It is not fair to compare a guesthouse that charges €75 a night with a nearby property that charges double or triple that rate.
Things can go wrong in the best of guesthouses, and the difference between an average place and a great one is how the innkeepers address the problem when something unexpected occurs.
