LA GOURGUILLE
Overview
Right in the city center of Barjac, placed as a lookout on the old ramparts path, La Gourguille is undergoing its Renaissance.
In this former notarial office, everything has been restored from top to bottom, to combine the elegance of mansions with contemporary comfort.
You will appreciate its discreet charm, the large rooms, the three suites evoking the wanderings of your hosts, the terrace facing the first foothills of the Cévennes, the secret garden mussé in the heart of the village.
You will be received there as friends by Tamara, Bruno and their three Burmese cats: Vishnou, Woodstock and Bao-Daï. You will be able, in the many common spaces left to your free access, to taste the productions of the region, to immerse yourself in your novel, to play the piano, to dream on a bench in the blue shade of the fig tree, and even to take cooking lessons. If you feel like it. The table d'hôtes, by reservation, is open to you and you will discover the local gastronomy and elsewhere ...
La Gourguille awaits you, our most beautiful love story is you !
Welcome to the historic center of Barjac, a Renaissance village full of character! You will be seduced by the dynamism of this village, and at the same time by the tranquility that emerges from its old stones and its history.
From Barjac, you are in the immediate vicinity of remarkable sites: the Ardèche river, the caves (Chauvet, Aven d'Orgnac, la Cocalière), small villages out of time and often classified among the most beautiful villages of France (Lagorce, Montclus, Rochegude, Aiguèze, Balazuc), the beautiful city of Uzès, the Pont du Gard. By pushing a little further, and a full hour's drive away, you will reach Nîmes, Orange and Avignon.
The region offers athletes and others an infinite choice of activities: hiking, canoeing down the Ardèche, mountain biking, canyoning, swimming, caving, etc.
Barjac is also the great spring and summer flea market, attracting merchants and bargain hunters from all over Europe! And every Friday, the local producers' market.
For contemporary art amateurs, the Anselm Kiefer foundation recently opened 2 km away from the center of Barjac. A unique opportunity to discover the amazing artistic work of this renamed French-German artist !

SUGGESTIONS FOR REVIEWERS
Describe the key elements of the accommodations : decor, hospitality, value, housekeeping, setting, and/or meals. What were the highlights of your stay? A comfortable bed and elegant decor? The convenient location? The delicious breakfasts and afternoon snacks? The hospitality of the innkeepers? Extra amenities and/or advice for business or vacation travel? If in the area again, would you return? Recommend to friends?
Be both honest and fair : We feature various types of accommodation - some more luxurious than others ... Criteria of charm vary from person to person
We offer a wide selection of quality guesthouses for all tastes and budgets
It is not fair to compare a guesthouse that charges €75 a night with a nearby property that charges double or triple that rate.
Things can go wrong in the best of guesthouses, and the difference between an average place and a great one is how the innkeepers address the problem when something unexpected occurs.
Avoid hyperbole : Reviews that include only effusive praise or complete condemnation are rarely helpful or even credible.
Innkeeper responses : There are at least two sides to every story (often three!). The reviews posted on the Charming Guest Rooms website are taken seriously by innkeepers.
We reserve the right for innkeepers to respond to any review.
