Villa Rosmarino
Overview
Villa Rosmarino is located on Mount Portofino, a protected area that stretches out into the open sea, a natural border between the Golfo Paradiso and Golfo del Tigullio.
Built in 1907 over a pre-existing structure, Villa Rosmarino is a typical ligurian small palace with green shutters and trompe l'oeil which reproduce on the wall frescos, decorations and floral motifs.
To its first owner, a local sea captain who commissioned the building at the end of XIX century, Villa Rosmarino was their country home where to take rests in between long seafaring journeys, but also where the olives coming from the trees and land surrounding the villa were crushed.
In the ground floor was an old oil mill to produce olive oil for the needs of the resident family but also for those residing in the neighbouring villas. The grind stones of the oil mill have been kept after the restructuring and are part of the decoration of the garden of the villa.
Villa Rosmarino welcomes you through a large gate, a private car park and steps covered with fragrant climbing roses and plants. Of the Villa's four floors, three are available for guests while the fourth is where the owners have their private residence.
This division is inspired by the traditional structures of the french Maison de Charme and it is quite common in the non tradition hotel hospitality.
The large garden of Villa Rosmarino surrounds the house in a typical ligurian fashion. A large magnolia tree and some chamelias spread their fragrance on the Mount side, while climbing roses, gardenias, pomegranate trees and geraniums will lead your walk toward the swimming pool area.
Lemon, tangerine and grapefruit trees bloom right outside the large opening doors of the living room while the lavender and rosemary bordered lawn that surrounds the swimming poll hosts the old mill grindstone and an ancient retorted fig tree.
Guests can admire these colors while comfortably sunbathing on the lounge chairs and beds around the large swimming pool.
Every detail and object inside Villa Rosmarino has a reason to be where it is, to be chosen and combined with the other. But do not expect the interior to be of the same décor as the outside.
The villa's interiors are defined by modern furnishing and Italian design, not only as far as the pieces of furniture are concerned but also for the presence of works of art by contemporary international artists.
The internal décor is relaxing and soothing for the most demanding traveler. Large sofas, a communal designer long table, a modern fireplace define the living room, while the library with a long terrace overlooking the pool and Golfo Paradiso, invites to reading time thank to sofas and chairs of mixed modern and decò period, surrounded by walls of art, literature, communication and design books.
Villa Rosmarino has six bedrooms: each one offers guests the privilege to live in a unique and different atmosphere from the other guests of the residence Each room has an open wardrobe and private bathroom with modern resin floorings and light Saint Hubert stone, the sinks of Carrara marble fashioned in Ligurian style.
The Mount is a regional park of great natural interest where sea, rocks and vegetation merge perfectly to create unforgettable scenery.
The Mount rises just above Camogli, one of the most famous and enchanting fisherman's village in Liguria.
Since early centuries, Camogli has been one of the most romantic fisherman's villages in the Mediterranean Sea. The fortified town erects itself over the Golfo Paradiso at the foot of the Mount Portofino. Its traditional tall multicoloured houses are homes to ancient sea traditions and it's been called since the last century "The town of the thousand tall ships.
The traditional colours of the house are always warm, in contrasting shades but never garish: ochre and beige dominate, with splashes of burgundy and burnished red. Camogli is also a favourite gourmet attraction for those looking for the true flavours of regional italian cuisine.

SUGGESTIONS FOR REVIEWERS
Describe the key elements of the accommodations : decor, hospitality, value, housekeeping, setting, and/or meals. What were the highlights of your stay? A comfortable bed and elegant decor? The convenient location? The delicious breakfasts and afternoon snacks? The hospitality of the innkeepers? Extra amenities and/or advice for business or vacation travel? If in the area again, would you return? Recommend to friends?
Be both honest and fair : We feature various types of accommodation - some more luxurious than others ... Criteria of charm vary from person to person
We offer a wide selection of quality guesthouses for all tastes and budgets
It is not fair to compare a guesthouse that charges €75 a night with a nearby property that charges double or triple that rate.
Things can go wrong in the best of guesthouses, and the difference between an average place and a great one is how the innkeepers address the problem when something unexpected occurs.
Avoid hyperbole : Reviews that include only effusive praise or complete condemnation are rarely helpful or even credible.
Innkeeper responses : There are at least two sides to every story (often three!). The reviews posted on the Charming Guest Rooms website are taken seriously by innkeepers.
We reserve the right for innkeepers to respond to any review.
