Castello di San Fabiano
Overview
The Castle of San Fabiano is located in the heart of the picturesque Crete Senesi, the hills in the south of Siena, close to town, but immersed in the quiet of the countryside.
As early as the eleventh century, a small Romanesque church once stood along the route of the Via Francigena, near the river Arbia, the Church of San Fabiano. The pilgrim who was coming down in Rome could stand near the parish church in the village of San Fabiano and pray, or decide whether to embark on the journey to Rome. After a thousand years, the ford of the river was placed under control for the defense of the territory and for this purpose the castle was built, with a watch-out tower that was used to communicate with other towers between the borderline, such as Radicofani and the Torre del Mangia in Piazza del Campo, Siena.
A few centuries later, the hamlet was transformed into a fortified farm, once belonged to the King of Naples for about 100 years. Later it passed to the powerful Sienese family of Forteguerri up to the twentieth century.

We can even arrange for you wine tastings in wineries in famous wine-areas around the castle, like Montalcino and Chianti.

COOKING CLASS : You can learn to cook typical tuscan recipes with us. Take the ingredients from our garden and prepare delicious dishes while drinking a fresh glass of Prosecco.
