Welcome to Locanda del Gallo, our country house bed and breakfast located in the peaceful Umbria hills between Gubbio and Perugia.

Gubbio, Perugia, Assisi and Cortona are all within easy reach of the Locanda del Gallo and even Siena, Florence and Rome are not too far.
The Locanda del Gallo has 10 rooms all with private bathroom, each equally fresh and silent, each different from one another. The furnishings adorning every room were all hand-picked and brought back one by one from many distant journeys made by Paola and Irish, the owners of the Locanda del Gallo. There is no television, nothing to disturb the peace and tranquillity.
Prominently situated on a ridge which stretches into the centre of the valley, The Locanda del Gallo commands fine views over its 28 hectares of gardens, terraced lawns and woodland. Stroll at leisure through the olive grove, inhale the scent of roses and herbs, or simply curl up with a book under the shade of the old elm tree. The gardens hold many hidden gems and secret corners for you to discover. In one, an ecological chlorine-free swimming pool, encircled by comfortable sun loungers and close by the sybaritic delight of an outdoor Jacuzzi whirlpool spa.
Or descend a few steps and enter the small Moorish style spa, let your tensions slip away in the Turkish bath and then immerse yourself in a cloud of cool, refreshing, mint scented water, before heading for the peace of the salon overlooking the verdant landscape to sip a tisane, or read a book, or revive yourself under the hands of our masseuse.
Organic tomatoes, salad leaves and vegetables from the kitchen garden. Olive oil from the olive grove, aromatic herbs from the garden, yogurt, cakes and home-made breads. In the finest traditions of Mediterranean cuisine everything is natural, everything is genuine.
Umbria is a paradise for nature lovers. We will be delighted to point out the many quiet paths and by-ways waiting to be explored in the valley surrounding the Locanda del Gallo. For those wishing to explore further we have a selection of mountain bikes at your disposal.
We can book tennis courts 10 minutes away by car and a round on a championship golf course 30 minutes away.

- COMING FROM MILAN Take the autostrada A 14 towards Bologna/Ancona. Exit at Cesena Nord onto the E 45 towards Perugia/Roma. Exit at Ponte Pattoli (15 km after Umbertide) and turn right towards Casa del Diavolo. At the crossroads turn right then immediately left, signposted Santa Cristina. After 8 km there is a restaurant 'La Dolce Vita' on the right hand side. A 100 meters further on turn left onto the drive of the Locanda Del Gallo COMING FROM FLORENCE Take the autostrada towards Roma. Exit at Val di Chiana onto the raccordo autostradale RA 6 towards Perugia. At Perugia take the superstrada E 45 towards Cesena, exiting at Ponte Pattoli (20 km after Perugia). Turn left towards Casa del Diavolo. At the crossroads turn right then immediately left signposted Santa Cristina. After 8 km on the right hand side there is a restaurant 'La Dolce Vita' A 100 meters further on turn left onto the drive for the Locanda del Gallo. COMING FROM ANCONA Take the superstrada towards Fabriano. After Fossato di Vico take the exit signposted Gubbio. At Gubbio turn off towards Perugia. At Mengara (7 km from Gubbio) turn right towards Santa Cristina. After 11 km (before La Dolce Vita restaurant) turn sharp right signposted Locanda del Gallo COMING FROM ROME Take the autostrada A 1 towards Firenze Exit at Orte onto the E 45 superstrada towards Perugia/Cesena. 20 km after Perugia exit at Ponte Pattoli. Turn left towards Casa del Diavolo. At the crossroads turn right then immediately left signposted Santa Cristina. After 8 km on the right hand side there is a restaurant 'La Dolce Vita' A 100 meters further on turn left onto the drive for the Locanda del Gallo.

Eco-friendly B&B
We are delighted to have reached this goal. The 26 acres of land that surround us compensate for excess CO2 emissions. We use photovoltaic panels, a solar thermal system and a biomass boiler to meet the energy and heat requirements of the Locanda del Gallo.

It is not fair to compare a guesthouse that charges €75 a night with a nearby property that charges double or triple that rate.
